Ildikó Vigh
Through travel, collecting and experimentation, artist Ildikó Vigh finds a sense of order. From various places around the world, such as Groningen, New Zealand, Hungary and Scotland, she creates (paper) art whilst seeking new perspectives. Light, shadow and chance play an important role in her work.
This is also how her collages came about; she uses materials such as hemp, asparagus, bamboo, cotton, nettle, abaca, avocado, flax and rosemary. She weaves these into her works, as it were, seeking out beautiful proportions. The diversity within them stimulates her imagination.
Franca Fokkinga
Valwild is a personal depiction of pain through a collection of five characters, two of them are exposed in the windows. Together, they symbolize a coming-of-age and the heaviness that often accompanies it. It tells the story of innocence and childlike fantasy, slowly twisted and distorted into an uncomfortable development in the form of discomfort, transience and sacrifice.
The collection begins with Lost Child: the gradual detachment from childhood and the experience of being lost within an unfamiliar, new perception of the world. The dress is tattered, the bows and lace ribbons hang loose, and what was once pristine white has been dragged through the mud—beyond any hope of returning to its former state.
Albireo, inspired by the myth that swans, which remain relatively silent throughout their lives and sing beautifully just before they die, concludes the collection, symbolizing a final farewell to the world.
In the windows from 18 October until 18 December
