Anyone stepping into Loof’s showroom in Zaandam feels it straight away. The tranquillity of natural materials, the warm wood, the serenity of a space that invites you to slow down.

Flax is a plant that lends itself extremely well to making extremely strong paper, by means of repelling, breaking, scutching, heckling and many other processes you make a short fiber from the long stem.

Three artists/designers dove into the paper studio for a week to research making herbal paper.

The starting point for the installation Forgotten Seeds is biodiversity. In the Netherlands, the bee population is declining dramatically and more attention may be paid to native plants.

Loes did an Artist in Residence at the Hoorneboeg estate. She was inspired by the surroundings and created new work with plants from the surrounding area.

The windows and gallery in front of Loes Schepens’ studio will also feature art by artists/designers working with paper or cardboard.
